The Connection In Our Bodies
July 14th, 2010 -

As some of you noticed, we recently released a new product called Connectagen. This product is a dissolving lozenge that delivers hyaluronic acid, glutamine, NAG, vitamin C, L-lysine HCI and grape seed extract quickly and effectively to your body. This composition of ingredients is designed to support healthy connective tissue and vessel function. You may be thinking, “Ok, I know I have connective tissue and OBVIOUSLY this is something that I need to supplement, but what exactly is connective tissue?”

Connective tissue is a form of fibrous tissue that is a member of the four main types of tissue within the human body. Keep in mind that this IS NOT muscle tissue. Collagen is the main component of connective tissue and is the most important protein in mammals; between 25% and 35% of the total protein in the body. Collagen forms together to make a tough fiberous structure, giving structures like fascia, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, bone and skin their shape.

Much like hyaluronic acid, collagen is an essential part of the skin structure. Along with keratin, collagen is responsible for skin strength and elasticity. The collagen in the blood vessels beneath the skin help retain the skins shape as well. As with hyaluronic acid, collagen production slows as the human body ages. This reduction in collagen and hyaluronic acid leads to the appearance of wrinkles.

Probably the most commonly associated form of connective tissue that is recognized are tendons and ligaments. These thick, tough, bundles of collagen connect our muscles to other muscles and bones allowing movement. Ligaments and tendons are of major concern within various athletics as injuries to this tissue type become more and more prevalent. Athletes are always looking for ways to help their bodies avoid injury and maintain a healthy state.

On the other hand, probably the most unknown form of connective tissue is your fascia. Fascia is a wall of fibers that surrounds muscles, bones, organs, nerves, and blood vessels. This form of collagen allows blood vessels that transport blood and oxygen to the muscles to stay flexible yet strong. As well as organ and muscle composition, fascia also maintains a fibrous structure within the body to hold organs in place; preventing your stomach to be floating around by your lungs and your gall bladder to be hanging out with your intestines.

Connective tissue is arguably the underlying structure to our bodies. The collagen and proteins in this connective tissue allow us to move, jump, and even breath. Because of the decline in quantity and quality of the connective tissue in our bodies, we have to continue taking care of our bodies through diet, exercise, and supplementation. Connectagen by Hyalogic is perfectly formulated supplement to do just that.
